jacha – face. Cara or rostro are the correct ways to say “face.”
jalar – means to date someone. José jala con María desde hace dos años. Joe has been going out with Mary for two years.
jalarse una torta – means to make a huge mistake or get pregnant unintentionally
Jama – food in Costa Rica. La comida is the proper word.
Jamar – means to eat. The verb comer is more commonly used.
jeta – la boca.
jetas – big mouth, person who talks al lot or full of it.
jetón – a liar
joder – to bother or nag someone (vulgar). The verb Molestar is not as offensive. Molestar does not mean to molest. Abusar sexualmente de alguien means to molest someone
jodido – a situation is f***ed up or a person who is a pain in the butt. This term is vulgar.

jugar de vivo – to act like a smart ass. Pasarse de listo is also used.
jugársela – to work things out using one’s own resources or to take a risk.
juma – a drunken spree. Jumarse is the verb to get drunk.
jumas – to be drunk Estar borracho or ebrio are the correct ways of saying someone is drunk. Ticos also say Estoy hasta la mecha (I am drunk). When I lived in Mexico during my youth I often heard Estoy hasta la madre (I’m drunk).
jupa – a person’s head. Jupa de clavo is a person with a big head in Costa Rica. Clavo is the word for nail and nails generally have a large head. Cabeza is the correct word for head.
jupón – is a stubborn person or a person with a big head. Cabezón, necio or terco are also used for stubborn.
