The Language of Love

For those of you who intend to get romantically involved with a native Spanish speaker, there are many necessary phrases or lines you should master in order to communicate your feelings and desires.

A number of the words and phrases can be used to meet someone or for after you are already dating.

¿Cómo se llama usted? - What’s your name?
Me llamo - My name is…
¿Quisiera salir conmigo? - Would you like to go out with me?
Me atrae - I’m attracted to you
Me cae bien - I like you
Te quiero - I love you
Usted es guapo - You are handsome
Usted es bonita - You are pretty
casado/a - married
soltero/a - single
separado/a - separated
divorciado/a - divorced
viudo/a - widower/widow
¿Quisera bailar? - Would you like to dance?
novio/a - boyfriend/girlfriend
¿Quisiera cenar? - Would you like to have dinner?
¿Quisiera almorzar? - Would you like to have lunch?
¿Cuál es su número de teléfono? - What is your phone number?
¿Dónde vive usted? - Where do you live?
¿Mi casa o su casa?- My house or yours?
Me divertí mucho - I had a good time.
¿Quiere casarse conmigo? - Do you want to marry me?
Estoy enamorado/a con usted- I’m in love with you.
Quiero terminar con usted - I want to break up with you.
¿Te gustó? - Did you like it?

Usted es sensual - You are sexy.

Tiquismo of the week: Pepear means to be in love with someone in Costa Rica. Estoy pepeado/a is, “I’m in love.”
